IT Security Trends to Watch this Year and Beyond

Dramatically expanded remote work did more than put workers and businesses in transition. It also brought IT security and innovation to the forefront.

The recent rapid switch from offices to work-from-home has expanded the attack surface for cybercriminals to target. In fact, more than 1,000 unsecured personal devices connect to enterprise networks daily in 30% of U.S., UK, and German companies, reported Deloitte.

According to a SailPoint survey of 9,000 workers in six countries, the emerging “new normal” has also led to an increase in:

  • Phishing attacks — 48% of respondents had been affected.
  • Password sharing — 23% of U.S. respondents admitted to doing this.
  • Using public Wi-Fi — More than 50% of U.S. respondents under 55 acknowledged this practice

This landscape has increased the urgency for security teams to keep sensitive business and personal data from leaking out from personal devices, among other changes.
